Making a complaint

Not happy with an appointments process?

If you believe that an appointments process has not been conducted in accordance with the Code of Practice, you can ask the Commissioner to investigate. The Commissioner

  • can only investigate appointments to bodies which he regulates or monitors;
  • will examine the process used to make an appointment, or the manner in which an application has been handled, if he believes that the Code has been breached;
  • does not investigate how a body is run, or the actions of its members.

However, if you have a complaint, you should first direct your concerns to the department which was responsible for making the appointment.

If you are still not satisfied, you may send your complaint, in writing, to the Commissioner. She will accept complaints by e-mail, but will require a postal address also.

If you have a complaint or query about an appointments process please contact us.
