Making a complaint

Not happy with an appointments process?

If you believe that an appointments process has not been conducted in accordance with the Code of Practice, you can ask the Commissioner to investigate. The Commissioner

  • can only investigate appointments to bodies which the Commissioner regulates;
  • will examine the process used to make an appointment, or the manner in which an application has been handled, if the Commissioner believes that the Code has been breached;
  • does not investigate how a body is run, or the actions of its members.

If you have a complaint, you should first direct your concerns to the department which was responsible for making the appointment.

If you are still not satisfied, you may send your complaint, in writing, to the Commissioner. The Commissioner accepts complaints by e-mail, but will also require a postal address.

If you have a complaint or query about an appointments process please contact us.
