Joan has strong communication, both verbal and written, skills which have predominantly been developed as a result of almost 30 years’ experience in the higher education sector. In addition, she has been extensively involved in influencing opinions and challenging constructively throughout her career. Joan’s previous experience has also required her to build and manage relationships in a range of situations and to work effectively, both as an individual and as part of a team. As vice-Chair and treasurer of a local theatre company and a trustee of a local cancer charity, she has also developed a good knowledge of corporate governance and sound financial management.
