Today, the Commissioner attended the Northern Ireland Rural Women’s Network mentoring event, in the Terrace Hotel Magherafelt. NIRWN provides funding for Belfast Metropolitan College’s “Get on Board” courses delivered specifically to rural women. In addition NIRWN adds value to the training by providing follow up support for participants including information on advertised public appointment posts, application support, mock interviews and regular mentoring events.

The Commissioner has today published her 13th Annual Report detailing the work of her Office during the year 2007/08.
Highlights include:
  • The unacceptable leaks surrounding the Victims Commissioner(s).
  • The New Code of Practice for 2009/10
  • Praise for the Get on Board Course - the only measure taken by government to address the unrepresentative nature of our public bodies.
